How To Find A Lost Phone

Person loses phone after unknowingly dropping on the sidewalk.
Never fear; all hope is not lost.

Oh no, you can’t find your phone – now what? First things first: don’t panic! There’s still hope to get it back safe and sound. Fortunately, technology exists to help you recover a lost phone and get out of this sticky situation. So if you’ve lost or misplaced a Net10 phone or know someone who has, follow these steps to ensure you’ve done everything you can to get it back.

#1: Call it

Even if it’s locked, whoever has your phone can still answer calls.

You think your phone is nearby but can’t see it? Ask a friend to call it. Can’t hear it? There’s a chance you might’ve accidentally left it elsewhere. With any luck someone friendly will find it and want to help return it. Remember, if the phone is locked this person will have trouble figuring out how to contact you. But they will be able to answer incoming phone calls, so continue giving yourself a ring as the search continues!

#2: Retrace your steps

When did you last have your phone? If you think you left it at a store or restaurant, go back there and look. You can also call them and ask if they found a phone. If they say no, leave your name and number anyway in case it turns up.

#3: Track it down

Most smartphones have a built-in feature to help you track down a lost phone, like Find My iPhone (iOS) or Find My Device (Android). They allow you to log into your account from another device and pull up a map of exactly where your phone is located. In addition, they let you play a sound on your phone, send a message to it, and erase its contents all remotely. If you had any third-party anti-theft apps downloaded, you can enlist those for help, too.

#4: Wipe your data

If you think someone has your phone, and they’re not responding to any of your attempts to contact them, it’s time to take steps to protect yourself and your data. From another device, go ahead and erase the contents using Find My iPhone (iOS) or Find My Device (Android) and change all your account passwords. If you haven’t already, you might also want to report your phone lost or stolen to the police. Who knows, they might just able to get it back to you.
